New Mexico Supreme Court Makes Historic Move on AI Integration The New Mexico Supreme Court has established a permanent committee to guide the judiciary’s use of artificial intelligence—a groundbreaking step that positions the state at the forefront of balancing technological innovation with justice system integrity. The Committee on Artificial Intelligence and the Courts, which includes UNM Professor of Law Sonia Gipson Rankin, CoConvener of the Trustworthy AI Grand Challenge, will advise on ethical AI implementation, recommend guidelines to mitigate bias, and develop standards for judges, attorneys, and court staff navigating the rapidly evolving intersection of law and machine learning.
